Styles and Uses

Wood Blinds add warmth and style to any room. Wood blinds are also a classy and affordable solution. They offer a great amount of flexibility controlling natural light. Whether you have the slats straight for maximum view, tilt them to guide and reflect the light into your home, or fully close them for privacy they always look good and perform. Wood Blinds are also a breeze to clean typically only requiring a light dusting. Wood Blinds are available in natural wood grain in a variety of stained colors as well as solid painted colors.

For a bedroom application or for when you desire maximum privacy, there is a no route hole, room darkening feature available from most manufacturers. This feature gets rid of the routing holes that normally are in the middle of the wood blind slat. The no route hole feature allows the Wood Blind slats to close tighter to block the maximum amount of light. Although this room darkening feature works quite well there will still be some light bleed around the edges of the Wood Blind. For scenarios where you desire a full blackout system please refer to our Roller Shades page.

Most all of our Wood Blinds are GREENGUARD indoor air quality certified. Learn more about GREENGUARD here.

Controls, Shapes and Manufacturers

The manual operation of wood blinds is typically with a wand or cord pulls for the operation of tilting the slats. For opening the blinds there is the option to use a cordlock system or there is the popular and more child friendly option of a cordless lift system.

The most popular way to motorize a wood blind is with the addition of a tilt motor. The tilt motor tilts the wood blinds slats in both directions up and down. The tilt motor can be either battery operated or can be hardwired with the addition of a power supply.

The tilt motor systems can be controlled via RF (radio frequency) or IR (infrared) remotes. There is always the option to have an in-wall keypad or have them controlled with an automation system.

Wood Blinds can be manufactured to accommodate odd shaped windows. From angled top windows to round windows and everything in between. They can even be made with cut outs if needed.

We offer Wood Blinds from Lutron, Hunter Douglas, Fashion Tech and Alta.

Unique Systems

Precision motorized lift and tilt

Lutron has raised the bar on Wood Blind motorization. The Lutron Sivoia Wood Blinds offer both tilting of the slats as well as a motorized lift system. These motors are precision operated within 1/16th of an inch.

Vertical Wood Blinds

Hunter Douglas offers vertical Wood Blinds. Vertical Wood Blinds are a great solution for sliding glass doors. With vertical Wood Blinds you can match your horizontal wood blinds perfectly. By having the shade open to the side you eliminate lifting what would be a heavy horizontal blind that would have a large stack when opened up on a typical door applications.
