Motorized Awning
Awnings are a great way to expand your outdoor space making it more livable and enjoyable throughout the year. Use awnings to provide a covered shaded areas in the heat of the summer (also reducing cooling energy costs) or extend them during a light rain to provide shelter. Awnings are multifunctional. There are a vast number of fabric colors and styles providing literally hundreds of combinations. Manual crank operation is standard on awnings. Motorization is suggested to offer maximum ease of use. With all motorized exterior products we recommend the integration of a safe guard against adverse weather. A wind sensor or motion sensor which can tell the awning units retract or close to protect it should adverse weather conditions arise is highly recommended. We specify the protection sensor based on location and expected climate conditions the awning will be subjected to. With the addition of a motor, it then becomes as easy to operate your awning as it is to turn up and down the volume on your television. There is even a favorite position button. When you press your favorite button your awning will return to your favorite position.
High voltage (120v) RF (radio frequency) controlled motors are typically the motor and control option that is best with either a hand held remote or in wall keypad. These systems can also be tied into home automation systems. We offer hard wired high voltage systems (motors and keypads) in addition to RF motors. We have found the RF motors and systems to work extremely well and be extremely reliable. The motors have built in safe guards against any protection sensors failing.
Somfy and Simu are the industry standard for exterior hard wired and RF motor motorized applications.
