Styles, Fabrics and Uses
Woven Wood shades provide a timeless elegant look to any home. Woven Wood shades like their cousin Woven Grasses are offered as either Roman Shades or Roller Shades. Woven Wood shades are available in many types of wood and a wide variety of colors. Woven Woods typically are considered a sheer type of window treatment by themselves. With the addition of a fabric liner they can be transformed into a room darkening or privacy shade as well. Liners can be either attached to the shade itself or can be operated separately with a different control mechanism (e.g. roller shade).

Controls, Shapes and Manufacturers
There is a wide variety of manual control options. Some of these include: continuous cord, cordlock, cordless lifts and UltraGlide on Hunter Douglas shades. UltraGlide is a ratcheting system that eliminates long dangerous cords by keeping the pull cord the same height all of the time. Woven Wood shades can come in the standard (bottom up) configuration or top down/bottom up from select manufacturers.
Motorization is accomplished by adding a motor to the lift system. Typically the motorized lift system uses a roller tube and either cords, strings or tapes. Lutron has developed their own uptake system that uses a roller shade type mesh fabric. The CERUS system (see below). Dependent on the size and weight of the completed shade there are multiple motor options available. We offer lithium battery powered motors, low voltage and line voltage motors.
Woven Woods can be controlled via RF(radio frequency) or IR(infrared) remotes. There is always the option to have an in-wall keypad or have them controlled with an automation system.
Specialty shapes are available with limitations.

DVD Custom Installations is proud to offer Hunter Douglas hardwired motorized systems. We have been factory certified through the Hunter Douglas Certified Motorization Specialist program. This certification is only available to dealers that have been hand selected by Hunter Douglas. The chosen dealers have a high level of knowledge of motorized window coverings and integration. Dealers must complete a lengthy and intense certification process and in doing so prove they have an above average understanding of Hunter Douglas hardwired motorization systems and related components.
Unique Systems
No more dangerous cords
Lutron has developed a revolutionary roman shade take up system. The Cord Eliminating Roman Uptake System or CERUS. The CERUS system does away with the traditional cords and loops in Roman Shades that have caused many child safety concerns. Instead of using cords the CERUS system uses a woven mesh fabric as its uptake mechanism eliminating the potentially dangerous cords. The CERUS system is available on Lutron shades or is offered as a kit for workrooms so a customer's own materials can be used.
