Styles and Fabrics
There are limited solutions for an interior skylight. Cellular shades and Roller Shades both can be used in interior skylight applications. Skylight Shades typically have a tensioning system to keep the fabric tight so that they do not sag and drag when they open and close. Interior skylight shades do an excellent job at controlling heat gain on hot days. And the opposite is true on a cold day they are very good at controlling heat loss by providing an extra layer of insulation.
Fabrics used in skylight shade applications range from sheer to filter light to opaque room darkening. If you have a skylight in your favorite television watching space or even in a bedroom an opaque skylight shade will do wonders to get rid of the glare and the light from outside making it a great place to enjoy a movie or a nap.

Controls and Manufacturers
Cellular Skylight Shades can be motorized or be manually operated. Roller Shade Skylight systems can only be operated via motorization.
With Motorization of your skylight shades not only do you get rid of the added clutter and storage of a pole that is needed to manually open and close the skylight shade, you get the ease of operation of opening and closing the shade with the press of a button.
Cellular Skylight Shade motorization can be battery powered, depending on size and weight of shade material, or hardwired. Roller Shade Skylight Shades are only available in hardwired systems at this time.
Skylight Shades can be controlled via RF(radio frequency) or IR(infrared) remotes. There is always the option to have an in-wall keypad or have them controlled with an automation system.
